On November 12, 1912, the town was established. Angleton stages the Brazoria County Fair, Texas’s biggest county fair, each October as the county seat. The refuge’s diverse population of wildlife renders it a must-see for animal lovers, especially photographers. A few miles of hiking and riding trails provide plenty of opportunities to explore the reserve on your own, no matter what season it is. Only remember to bring your camera with you.

Angleton’s Crocodile Encounter

You will have the opportunity to watch and educate about six different species of crocodilians as they eat and bask in the sun at its isolated facility, which is situated on a rural farm-to-market road just 10 minutes north of town.

There are up to 15 kinds of turtles and tortoises, most of which you can feed romaine lettuce to, and also lizards, snakes, and a few mammals, in addition to the large reptiles.

The History of Angleton
